About Dormitory
The Halls of Residence on the University campus in Poruba is located about 11km from the centre of Ostrava (20 min by tram). The Halls of Residence in Ostrava Poruba are the biggest accommodation area for students and employees of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava (VŠB-TUO). Accommodation capacity is 1819 beds and there is a possibility to choose between 2 beds and 3 beds rooms. The whole campus area is situated close to the VŠB-TUO Main Building (Rector‘s Department) and is easily accessible by public means of transport (tram number 7,8,18 – tram stop „17.listopadu“ – which is directly next to the main entrance of the VSB-TUO, bus number 37, 40 – bus stop „Studentská“ or „Studentské koleje“- which is directly next to the main entrance of the Halls of Residence or by own car. There are also plenty of cultural and sports facilities in the campus.

Buildings A and B
High-rise buildings with 13 floors in Poruba campus offer accommodation to students. Each dwelling unit consists of two rooms, one double bedroom and one 3 beds room. These two rooms have common sanitary facility and hall with refrigerator. Kitchen equipped with cooking stove, electric kettles and microwave iscommon for the whole floor. At the present are all buildings fully connected to the internet with exeption of building B, where are internet rooms.

Buildings C,D,E
In buildings C,D,E are only 3 -beds rooms. Student are accommodated above projected capacites. Amount of students can be difference every year. In every each room is sanitary facility with cooker, digestor and refrigerator. At the beginning of the new school year contains the dormitory capacity over 70% of applyed students (3600 - 3650 students). Student wich are not accommodated from the beginning of the school year are placed into the waiting list

Another option is to stay in the University Hall of Residence situated close to the centre of Ostrava, at no. 15 dr. Malého Street. Two or three rooms share a kitchen (with basic utensils) and a lounge room. Rooms are equipped with basic facilities,and you do not need to bring bedding and bed linen. Partners can have a shared room in the residence if they ask for it in time. Taken into consideration a growing number of exchange students it is almost impossible to stay alone in a two-bed room.In every room, however, there is an access to the Internet.This very neat dormitory serves mainly for the Ph.D. students of the Faculty of Economics. It is situated in the city centre neighbourhood and offers accommodation for cca 79 students.
